Summary:
The Junior Test Analyst at HSBC supports the delivery of high-quality, compliant technology solutions within a global banking environment. This role focuses on executing structured testing processes, ensuring systems meet business, functional, and regulatory requirements. The position collaborates closely with technology teams, business stakeholders, and quality assurance functions to validate system behavior and maintain audit-ready testing standards. By contributing to defect management, test execution, and UAT coordination, the role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable and efficient financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review business and functional requirements to understand testing scope, regulatory implications, and control impacts
- Design, document, and maintain detailed test cases and scripts with full traceability to requirements and compliance controls
- Assist in developing comprehensive test plans, including execution timelines, environments, and entry/exit criteria
- Execute system, functional, and regression test cases, ensuring accurate recording and documentation of results
- Log, track, and manage defects with clear reproduction steps, and perform retesting after issue resolution
- Maintain defect logs, participate in triage discussions, and collaborate with technology teams to resolve issues efficiently
- Capture and maintain test evidence aligned with governance and audit requirements, ensuring proper version control
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles by coordinating with business users, resolving queries, and consolidating sign-offs
- Validate control outputs, exception reports, and regulatory reporting changes to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Demonstrate a structured, process-driven approach with strong organization, clear communication, and proactive risk escalation
Tools/Technologies Used:
- Programming/Data Handling: SQL, basic data validation techniques
- Testing Tools: JIRA, ALM, Zephyr or similar test management and defect tracking platforms
