Depth Anything 3 (DA3)
Depth Anything 3 (DA3) (depth-anything-3.github.io, developed by ByteDance Seed & TikTok / CUHK) is an open-source visual geometry foundation model designed to recover 3D spatial structure from arbitrary visual inputs. Departing from specialized single-task pipelines, DA3 uses a plain transformer backbone to jointly predict pixel-aligned exponential depth maps, dense 6D ray geometry, and camera parameters (extrinsics/intrinsics) across single images, stereo pairs, unposed multi-view image sets, and video streams—surpassing prior state-of-the-art architectures (such as VGGT and DA2) by 35.7% in camera pose accuracy and 23.6% in 3D geometric accuracy.
In traditional computer vision, monocular depth estimation, multi-view stereo, and Structure-from-Motion (SfM) camera pose recovery required separate specialized networks and fragile multi-stage optimization pipelines. Depth Anything 3 (DA3) unifies these spatial understanding tasks into a single transformer framework. By introducing a “depth-ray-camera” target representation, DA3 reconstructs consistent 3D point clouds, GLB 3D assets, and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) scenes from arbitrary visual inputs with or without prior camera calibration.
